How we work

RNLI lifeguards keep beach-goers safe by providing a rescue service as well as safety education and first aid.

Running costs

The RNLI's running costs average around £339,000 (€440,700) a day. For every £1 raised, 85p is spent on operations and 15p is spent on generating income.

Life first

The RNLI aims to double the size of our lifeguarding service over 3 years so that every UK region that needs lifeguard cover on its beaches has seasonal patrols.
