Tighnabruaich History

1967 An inshore lifeboat station was established in May with a D class lifeboat, which was kept in a boathouse in the grounds of Tighnabruaich Hotel facing towards the Kyles of Bute.

1981 A new boathouse was built on the same site.

1994 A C class lifeboat was placed on service for one year’s evaluation.

1995 The C class was placed on permanent service.

1997 A new boathouse for a B class lifeboat and its launching tractor was completed in August, providing improved crew facilities.

1998 The C class was withdrawn from service and the B class Atlantic 75 lifeboat, B-743 Alec and Maimie Preston was placed on station on 8 April.
