The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust is a corporate trust which exists to support activities which reinforce the safety of life throughout the world. It is solely funded by the Lloyd's Register Group  whose mission as an international risk management group is to ‘enhance safety of life and property at sea, on land and in the air'.  The group believes that ‘Life Matters' and helps reduce risk and protect lives throughout industry.

The Trust took the decision to put their support wholeheartedly behind RNLI lifeboat crews by donating the single largest sum of money presented to the RNLI's ‘Train one, save many' [link to TOSM page] campaign. Their £625,000 donation will fund a series of sea survival courses over the next three years, covering the cost of training over 550 crew members.

The RNLI is delighted to be working with an organisation that values the protection of life first and foremost. During 2007-10, the courses funded will be named "The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust RNLI Sea Survival Courses'

Michael Franklin, Director of the LRET says: ‘We wanted to support the RNLI in saving lives at sea and crew training plays a significant role in this. The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust values the protection of life foremost and we are therefore delighted to fund the sea survival courses which safeguard lifeboat crews and ultimately saves lives.’
